  • Norra muusik Viljandi pärimusmuusika festivalil
    Püha müristus Kahel päeval näeme laval ka rahvamuusikut Norrast Liv Ulvikut kes teeb kaasa ja annab oma panuse projektis FolkMus FolkMus projekti eesmärgiks on täiustada ja levitada Euroopa pärimusmuusikakultuuri rahvusvahelisele publikule saades keelebarjääridest võitu kasutades võimsat ja globaalset keelt Tegevus on suunatud noortele muusikutele kuulajatele uurijatele et stimuleerida nende loovust andes nende talendile võimaluse Projekt sai alguse mõttest tuua kokku erinevad Euroopa torupillitraditsioonid On ju torupill olemas olnud pea kõikides Euroopa riikides ja seega hea alus rahvusüleseks muusikakootööks Kuid varsti ületas vaimustust üksteise mängust igasuguse piiri ning tasakaalu huvides otsustati koostöösse kutsuda ka teiste pillide mängijaid ning hetkel on tegemist värvika Lõuna Euroopa riikide ja Eesti muusikutest koosneva seltskonnaga kelle sünergiat on võimalik festivali kahel kontserdil nautida Mõlemal kontserdil teeb kaasa norra rahvalaulik Liv Ulvik Teised FolkMus projekti muusikud Eesti Toomas Oks eesti lõõtspill Katariin Raska saksofon eesti torupill parmupill Kreeka Yannis Pantazis kreeka torupill suupill saksofon Nikos Tsantanis kreeka torupill klarnet laul Itaalia Federico Laganà tamburello Valerio Rodelli diatooniline lõõtspill Portugal Manuel Maio laul viiul mandoliin portugali ukelele João Pratas laul galiitsia torupill rabel Sara Vidal laul galiitsia tamburiin löökriistad Hispaania Pau Figueres kitarrid Manu Sabaté gralla klarnet Kontserdid Neljapäev 25 07 kell 18 00 Jaani kirik Laupäev 27

    the Estonian Woodhouse Associaton This year we recieved the title of Friend of Estonian Wooden House to the Kingdom of Norway because Norway has been the main export destination for Estonian wooden houses for over a decade and the Estonian products have been well accepted and are well known in Norway We recieved the title at the joint organized Estonian Norwegian Cooperation Symposium Creating Added Value for Wooden Buildings Good Home Days 2013 Hea kodu päevad 2013 are held in Räpina the home of Estonian gardening Räpina county organizes annually the Good Home Festival this year on the 7th and 8th of June The event focuses on family homes housing and its surroundings and gardening The festival is featuring tips and ideas for making a good home and activities for grown ups and children Read more about the festival at Culture ee http www culture ee event good home days 2013 and at Räpina county s website in Estonian only The Estonian Woodhouse Association is organizing for the third time on the 8th of June in Räpina the Vocational Competition for Handcrafted Log Home Builders The aim of the competition is to popularize the profession of a handcrafted log home builder This year in addition to participants from Estonia also participants from abroad will be joining from Finland Latvia and Russia Invitation to the Vocational Competition for Handcrafted Log Home Builders During the competition the contestants will build different examples of log home corner types Every contestant can choose between three different corner types Estonian dovetail corner with wind lock Estonian square notch with wind lock and Scandinavian notch Every contestant must fix a 1 5 m log to a prepared base incl building of one corner joint and 1 2 m long groove and cut straight the log ends

    Skandinavistika Ülikooli 17 3 rd floor room 305 at 18 15 Wine bread fruit cheese and ham will be served Rasa has sent us a short presentation of the lecture Viking Age Celtic and Scandinavian language and cultural contacts resulted in profound changes in both societies Viking Age rune stones found in the Isle of Man contain some exceptional features and in many ways diverge from the rest of the Scandinavian runic corpus Presence of the Ogam tradition in the Isle of Man might have been one of the factors why rune stones were so well accepted and flourished in the isle during the Viking Age One of the most unique features is the presence of bilingual runic Ogam inscriptions which were carved at the same time as runic inscriptions and not earlier Linguistic research of the Manx rune inscriptions revealed the influence of Celtic upon Scandinavian language First of all rune inscriptions contain a lot of Celtic personal names Besides there are many cases of inflectional confusion that is likely to arise in a bilingual society Rasa Baranauskiene is PhD and lecturer at the University of Vilnius In 2012 she defended her doctoral thesis called Celtic and Scandinavian Language

  • International Conference on Right-wing Extremism and Hate Crime in Europe and Beyond
    on right wing extremism and hate crime directed towards minorities in Europe and beyond Despite a large number of legal instruments and implementation mechanisms recent years have shown a marked increase in right wing extremism and hate crime directed towards minorities This goes against the very ideas on which post war Europe was founded The aim of the Conference is to identify trends gather information on emerging policy responses and good practices and discuss options for the way forward Key findings and recommendations will be summarized in a final report The Conference will gather specially invited participants and speakers from a number of countries including UN special rapporteurs and independent experts representatives from the Council of Europe the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe the European Union as well as representatives from human rights organisations academia civil society minority groups traditional and new media The Conference is organized by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and sponsored by the EEA and Norway Grants The Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Espen Barth Eide will open the Conference followed by Mr Ralf Melzer from the Friedrich Ebert Foundation who will deliver a keynote speech focusing on the roots and causes
