not it will die Contemplating the temporal nature of earthly life has always fascinated people despite the time and culture they inhabit And so Glanert has decided to bring the more than century old works of Brahms to the audiences of today Not only did Glanert orchestrate Brahms songs but he also expanded on them by adding an introduction and interludes Glanert shows both affection and respect The result is intensely moving The Guardian 31 July 2006 The second half of the concert presents the 7th Symphony by the Czech national romantic composer Antonín Dvořák After its extremely popular premiere in London conducted by the composer himself it was given the status of one of the best symphonies of its time and has remained a part of the orchestral repertoire to this day The Brahms Glanert songs will be performed by the Austrian baritone Markus Werba who despite his youth has already had an impressive career he has been on the stages of the most influential opera houses and concert halls including La Scala the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden the Bavarian State Opera the Metropolitan Opera Suntory Hall in Tokyo among others In 2002 Werba met Estonian audiences for the first time performing at the New Year s concert with ENSO and Annely Peebo conducted by Mikko Franck The concert is conducted by principal guest conductor Olari Elts who keeps expanding his grasp each year with critics offering him increasingly higher praise The true star of the show though was Estonian conductor Olari Elts who rather magically managed to conjure quite analytical microscopically detailed performances that still sparkled with spontaneity and fresh vivid life The Scotsman 11 May 2015 He has a charisma that is boyish and ebullient It certainly came over The Scotsman 3 December 2014 Tickets
