    7 pm Kuressaare Sports Center September 8 2006 19 00 Estonia Concert Hall September 9 2006 19 00 Kuressaare Sports Center Eller Symphonic poem Dawn Rakhmaninov Piano Concerto No 1 Shostakovich Symphony No 6 Soloist Eldar Nebolsin piano Spain Conductor NIKOLAI ALEXEEV Eldar Nebolsin born to pianist parents in Tashkent the capital of Uzbekistan is at present living in Spain He is an acclaimed pianist who regularly gives concerts at famous concert venues all over the world His international career was launched at the age of 18 when his winning of the 11th Santander International Piano Competition brought along engagements with over 130 chamber and symphony orchestras One of his last accomplishments was the First Prize at the First edition of the Richter International Piano Competition in 2005 Conductor Yuri Termikanov a jury member of the competition called Nebolsin a top class piano virtuoso At the opening concert of the season Eldar Nebolsin will perform the Piano Concerto No 1 by one of his favourite composers Sergei Rachmaninov ERSO will open its jubilee season 2006 2007 with Heino Eller s symphonic poem Koit Dawn and Dmitri Shostakovich Symphony No 6 which celebrates the end of his 100th birth anniversary Tickets

    I quattro rusteghi Ponchielli Dance of the Hours from the opera La Gioconda Lehár Gold and Silver Waltz Mascagni Intermezzo from the opera L amico Fritz Puccini Intermezzo from the opera Suor Angelica Berlioz Hungarian March from La damnation de Faust Cilea Intermezzo from the opera Adriana Lecouvreur Tubin A Long Anglaise from Suite on Estonian Dances E Kapp Folk Dance from the ballet Kalevipoeg Tamberg Sally s song from the opera Raudne kodu Rossini Overture from the opera La gazza ladra Ravel Bolero Bizet Overture from the opera Carmen Gerli Padar vocals The concert will be hosted by Mart Mikk Estonian National Symphony Orchestra Conductor NEEME JÄRVI In 1906 a professional theatre based on the song and drama society Estonia was founded in Tallinn on the initiative of directors and actors Paul Pinna and Theodor Altermann The theatre was named the Estonian National Opera in 1998 Therefore ERSO is honouring the Estonian National Opera s 100th anniversary with a gala concert Since the very beginning ERSO has collaborated closely with the Opera orchestra as at first being a very small orchestra it was necessary to borrow musicians from the Opera for giving symphony concerts and the two orchestras also used to share conductors The concert is conducted by Neeme Järvi who was the principal conductor and artistic director of the Estonian National Opera in 1963 1975 I was the principal conductor of the Estonia Theatre for 13 years at the same time also the principal conductor of ERSO These were interesting times There were good singers and an interesting repertoire Eino Tamberg s music was constantly played at the Estonia Theatre and Raudne kodu Iron Home was written especially for the theatre and recorded for the record label Melodya I remember the performance of Verdi s Requiem as extraordinary

    C major In the Italian Style Berio Folk Songs Kangro Display No 8 Portrait of Schubert Schubert Berio Rendering Patricia Rozario soprano England Estonian National Symphony Orchestra Conductor OLARI ELTS Soprano Patricia Rozario was born in Bombay and studied at the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London She is internationally acclaimed for both her recitals and opera roles Her extensive repertoire includes music from Baroque to contemporary music In addition to winning several international singing contests she has also been awarded with OBE for her services in music She collaborates closely with John Tavener who has been writing vocal music for soprano since 1991 always having her vocal capacities in mind Estonian composer Arvo Pärt has dedicated his work Como anhela la cierva to Patricia Rozario the premiere of the piece took place in March 1999 and it was the soprano s first appearance in Estonia Patricia Rozario is simply astounding in her vocal agility and control Ivan Moody International Record Review 2001 Olari Elts won the International Sibelius Conductors Competition in Helsinki in 2000 Since then he has been invited to conduct many world famous orchestras He conducted ERSO last in February 2006 The concert was
