    conductor and pianist John Towner Williams is an undisputed superstar of film music having composed the music for Star Wars Superman Indiana Jones Schindler s List and the first three parts of the Harry Potter series He has earned five Academy Awards four Golden Globe Awards and seven British Academy of Film and Theatre Awards as well as 21 Grammys With his 47 Academy Award nominations he is the second most nominated person after Walt Disney His bassoon concerto The Five Sacred Trees composed in 1995 for the 150th anniversary of the New York Philharmonic is dedicated to the orchestra s principal bassoon Judith LeClair The five parts of the work represent the sacred trees of ancient Celtic mythology Peeter Sarapuu Foto Peeter Laurits The soloist is ERSO s principal bassoon and renowned chamber musician Peeter Sarapuu who is noted both for his flawless technique and captivating performances Sarapuu does not pose as a pretentious soloist or a virtuoso showing off his technical skills His manner is somehow honest and unadorned yet vivid and warm Heili Vaus Tamm Sirp 18 May 2007 The concert also includes a rarely played early piece by Robert Schumann the unfinished Zwickau Symphony and Beethoven
